These encaustic 3D, table top art pieces are unique (just like you), earth friendly, and gorgeous from any angle. Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the wood and fused with a torch.
The background of these pieces are smooth, while the image of the tree is textured. The wood has a quarter circle cut into it where the wood turner was starting to create a bowl out of the wood. This pieces are irregularly shaped. The piece on the left measures 6 inches tall, 4.75 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. The piece on the right measures 6.25 inches tall, 4.75 inches wide, and 4 inches deep.
The wood used in this piece was salvaged from a local wood worker. The wood substrate has been reinforced with wood glue which creates a glossy finish on the bark.
Care of encaustic art:
Gently wipe every 3 months with a soft cotton cloth to dust and restore shine. Do not place in direct sunlight or store in extremely hot (hot car) or cold temperatures (garage in winter). Do not place it outside.
