Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the substrate and fused with a torch. Wax sealer is then applied.
For length and width, please see the photo. These encaustic earrings feature various shades of blue and white with a tint of green. The sides and backs are painted with dark blue encaustic.
These encaustic earrings were created using a process I developed to create a substrate using salvaged items including chipboard, wood, or birch bark. The chipboard used for this pair of earrings was sourced from used coffee carriers and coffee sleeves.
These are fine art encaustic earrings and should be handled carefully.
