These hand painted statement encaustic earrings will quickly become one of your favorite accessories! Each encaustic earring is unique, unbelievably lightweight, and earth friendly. Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the bark and fused with a torch. Wax sealer is then applied.
These earrings are irregularly shaped and drop approximately 3 5/8 inches. They measure 1 1/4 inches across at the widest points. The left and right earring weigh 0.2 oz each, approximately the weight of 2 pennies.
The bark was salvaged locally from fallen trees. Each piece has been cut, sanded by hand and reinforced with wood glue. The glue creates a glossy finish on the bark.
These are fine art encaustic earrings and should be handled carefully.
The hardware is nickel and lead free and hypoallergenic. It is strongly encouraged to wear the backings provided so an earring does not fall out.
