This magnet is a print of an original encaustic beeswax painting. Even though it is a print, the texture of the original piece is captured realistically. The magnet measures 3”x 3”.
It is a memento from the “Poetic Potential” pop-up art installment at the Two Discovery Square construction site in Rochester, MN. The installment was made possible through a collaboration including Threshold Arts, DMC, Mortenson Construction, and local artists. My husband, John Sievers, and I created a place-making piece of art consisting of photographed original encaustic art and poetry. The 8’ x 8’ piece recreated a map of downtown Rochester and invites the public to interact with it by writing poems and imagining where locations for music, living accommodations, and leisure activities might take place in our city. The circular magnets are icons that could be rearranged on the art installment. This icon was created by John Sievers.
