These hand painted statement earrings will quickly become one of your favorite accessories! Each encaustic earring is unique, unbelievably lightweight, and earth friendly. Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the bark and fused with a torch. Wax sealer is then applied.
These are my largest statement encaustic earrings! Yet, the left earring only weighs 0.2 oz. and the right earring weighs only 0.25 oz. (approximately the weight of 2 pennies. For length and width, please see the photo.
The bark was salvaged locally from fallen trees. Each piece has been cut, sanded by hand and reinforced with wood glue. The glue creates a glossy finish on the bark.
These are fine art encaustic earrings and should be handled carefully.
The hardware is nickel and lead free and hypoallergenic. It is strongly encouraged to wear the backings provided so an earring does not fall out.
